Kew Cares

It’s hard to pinpoint just when Kew Cares began – a passing conversation at an art show, a new connection formed with a neighbouring organisation, and suddenly the Kew Neighbourhood Learning Centre, the Women’s Liberation Halfway House, and Kew Baptist Church were sitting down in a room together. Kew Cares was born out of a mutual care and concern for women and children who have been impacted by family violence. We want to see our community engaged, connected, and united on this issue, and we believe Kew Cares is a piece of the puzzle. We hope you’ll be able to catch sight of our vision and join us as we work together to positively impact the lives of those affected by family violence.

About WLHH

Women’s Liberation Halfway House (WLHH) emphasises consistency between its values and practice and is informed by a structural understanding of women’s disadvantage.
WLHH is guided by the following principles:

  • Access & Equity: All women who require our service are given equal access and are provided with a responsive and timely service.
  • Self-Determination: We recognise women’s resilience and strengths and offer our service in a way that encourages women to be in charge of their own affairs.
  • Flexibility: We are driven by the needs of the women who use our service. It is designed to reflect the uniqueness of each woman’s experiences.
  • Respect and Dignity: We provide a service that respects individual choices, experiences, cultures and rights to self-determination.
